About 10 years ago, I took several longer overseas trips. I would write on a blog every day about what I did. But no matter how hard I tried when I was at home, I really struggled to write about what I saw as a mundane trip to something local. It is has for a long time puzzled me how seeing a waterfall in Iceland can inspire me to write, but a waterfall an hour from home seems boring. At the time, I even tried creating a series on the blog I would write called local tourist, where I would approach my local area as a tourist, but to no avail. I maybe need to give it a go again and see if I can stir any creative writing as a result.
