Distraction & Perfection the Killers of Productivity
The balance of productivity between distractions and perfection can rest on a razor’s edge.
Sitting down to write my mind balances on a razor-thin line of focus.
At one extreme I am fighting to avoid perfection paralysis, which leaves me looking at a blank screen. Forcing words out, only to delete them and start again.
In the same way that I am pushing back against picking up something, anything that will distract me.
What Is Productivity?
Productivity (noun) — the quality, state, or fact of being able to generate, create, enhance, or bring forth goods and services — Dictionary.com
The term productivity is going to mean something different for everyone. However, I imagine at the core of many people’s work it comes down to the essence of the dictionary meaning above.
When I am productive, I am generating or creating something of value.
When I am productive, I feel positive and see future potential.
When I am productive, I see myself advancing my cause and everything around me.
