I always hate reading about the challenges people face in getting started with the MPP. When I signed up almost three years ago from Australia, the greatest challenge I had was figuring out the wording on the tax form and had to go through it twice to make sure it was right. But then instead of asking for I’d documents up front they waited until three months later and froze the account until I provided them. The problem was the request came from in a dodgy looking email and did not immediately appear within the stripe dashboard for a few days so a little frustrating.
I am back to the challenge of connecting to Stripe again for another business, and it is a bit of jumping through hoops to get an account finalised to use, they want so many details.
The challenge for you with Stripe though is somewhat out of Mediums hands. As Medium use them to facilitate payments for the MPP but they have no control over establishing or doing anything with Stripe accounts otherwise, because they are a totally separate company. If you have not used stripe for anything else it might be worth just starting with a new account.
