It is nice to see this feature added. I made a suggestion about a tipping feature in Medium many months ago. However, this is not exactly the implementation I suggested or like.

I feel there is still a barrier to getting people to use the feature because it takes them off the Medium platform. While this is beneficial for writers who cannot benefit from the MPP I think it will not make any significant difference.

A tipping feature within the Medium platform would have created less friction in the experience and been potentially more beneficial.
