Ted, this is quite well said, and must admit to being a little guilty of criticising the writing of some.
As you point out there are 20,000 new stories a day. However, reading particularly the comments from some writers when the new CEO gave a platform to make suggestions, you would believe that everyone of them is people talking about how much they earn here.
When it comes to the writers on the platform I feel that well over 95% of what I read is great. I am not one to be to picky about how well the writer grasps the English language. Because the thing that is most important is telling the story. Which especially for people writing in English as a second language grammar and spelling and correct sentence structure is not a priority. As such I have found some brilliant stories that I still enjoyed.
What I have criticised is more so writers who present themselves as professional. Writers who frame the story as a high quality and yet fail to do the most basic research, and even openly state they cannot remember a source and urge the reader to seek it out themselves. Along with those writers who specifically choose to compose click bait titles, and significantly under deliver throughout the article. I even do try to provide the feedback through responses on the their stories, highlighting the damage they are doing to their name and/or brand, but these are commonly never respond to or even acknowledged.
I am not a particular fan of being negative though, and keep it to a minimum. As such have taken more to clicking the - to show less of these stories, then even reading them to begin with.
