Thank you Shereen. Great work on the 6 miles a day in 2021. My streak is long, but I know there have been plenty of times that I easily could have broken it. There are days where you sometimes don't feel like it or just really struggle to motivate yourself. I am also somewhat lucky to not have specific commitments like a fixed work schedule or the like to affect my ability to walk.
I would say that my walking is probably 70% outdoors and 30% indoors. I live in Brisbane, Australia, so I am reasonably lucky this doesn't vary too much year round. Through summer, it can be a similar challenge to you with the heat and high humidity. So I walk outdoors early in the day, and will be more indoors in the middle of the day if needed. Definitely taking advantage of a local shopping centre which is air-conditioned.
Winter, we are extremely lucky we are in a zone that does not receive much extreme cold. We average between 65-75+ degrees during the day with lows in the morning, usually between 40-50 degrees. So winter is often quite comfortable to walk outdoors at any time of day.
I visited Reykjavik in Iceland for a few days and got to experience walking in negative temperatures with wind, but no snow. It would not be fun and I can imagine it would require a significant amount of determination to keep up a daily walking goal with that.
Thank-you Shereen for your comment and feedback.
