The Greatest Challenges I Face As A Writer
Facing the challenges of being a writer and overcoming them.
Insert me sitting behind the computer in my local cafe and this is the scene you will find most mornings. The scene has changed from time to time, but it has been much the same for over 20 years now, since I first visited a cafe to sit and write.
Where I write has varied significantly over the time. Blogs, websites, and various other projects. Some that still live in a home online and some that never saw the light of day. Long ago, deleted in an old draft, or lost to a dead USB drive.
Throughout this period, there is one thing I can say: the quality of my writing has improved. I suspect, a good thing, considering the time and energy I have invested over the years.
While the quality has improved, my expectations of myself have outpaced this improvement. This has more recently combined with a decrease in my ability to focus and collate my ideas into a cohesive story.
My Early Writing
For several years, when I was first writing, the expectations for myself when writing were low. I would think of an idea to write about, type it out and immediately hit publish. The idea of editing, formatting or checking my work just did not cross my mind.
