While the posts that are getting removed do not appear to be limited to COVID-19, there is a good chance that it is related.

This is just a personal thought and has no data behind it. Medium offers anyone the ability to write and share their thoughts, whether based on fact or not. When it comes to COVID-19 there has been a significant number of people writing about the virus and their experience. There is also a lot of this writing that is not entirely based on fact, or that is potentially sourced from questionable sources.

If enough stories have flagged as not real or been flagged as spam by users, it is possible that Facebook has flagged the Medium.com domain as spam in their algorithm. There is even a chances that could have happened automatically. Ultimately triggering a lot of posts that are not related to COVID-19 to be flagged as spam because of the medium.com domain.

Hopefully, Facebook takes steps to resolve this if it was an automated action. The alternative is that maybe Facebook is trying to take actions to keep people on their platform and not clicking away to other platforms.

One final consideration is that there needs to be level of control on the potential for false news or facts. This is not just limited to what is written on Medium, the regular media is also to blame for a level of the false information that has come out and triggered panic buying and the likes we have seen over the past few weeks.
