Why The Keyboard Warrior Has Risen To Such A Height
Epictetus identified it in his age old quote long before the keyboard.
There is a saying which comes to us from the 2nd century AD. From the philosopher Epictetus.
We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak. — Epictetus
It is advice we are well served to consider. Something that many people could use to their benefit. Alas, many people are still more than happy to talk more than they listen. The result of which is often a misunderstanding by those who should be listening.
The Rise Of The Keyboard Warrior
This saying provides a basis which might explain the rise of the keyboard warrior.
When we speak, we use our mouth, of which we have just one. While when we listen, we use our two ears. Which gives us the basis for the quote by Epictetus.
If we consider now the act of writing and reading online. To read, we use our two eyes. While when we write online, we make use of the Keyboard and anywhere from one to ten of the digits on our hands.
What if we apply the same logic to both circumstances? Does this mean with two eyes…
